Hey, everyone I’m Therese Taruc and I’m currently in my third year of Health Information Science at UVic. I’m passionate about how technology can improve patient care and streamline workflow for clinicians. One of the most meaningful experiences that influenced my educational journey and getting into health informatics was my initial interest in becoming a nurse. I learned about their day-in-their life and the tools they use everyday. I discovered that nurses rely heavily on using electronic health and medical records in order to support patient care in which they can access up-to-date vitals, documenting assessments in real time, and coordinating medication orders with other care team members. Ultimately, I hope to work on electronic health record usability or clinical decision support systems after graduation. When I’m not studying, I like playing tennis, playing horror games, cold dips, and fawning over bees.
I’m looking forward to collaborating with everyone and getting to see how the course progresses through this summer!
